About This Book

About the Authors

Matt Ha joined the OneStream services team in 2019 with a background in data science and systems implementation. As a Lead Technical Consultant, his main roles are acting as a technical SME and triaging complex technical builds across various projects. He was born and raised in LA but got his degree in Mechanical Engineering in the Bay Area, where he currently lives in an overpriced tiny box. In his free time, you can find Matt backpacking or skiing in the outdoors (depending on the weather), making gifts for friends in his woodshop (i.e., dad’s garage), or getting voluntarily beat up at the local jiu-jitsu gym.

Dedicated to my family, friends, and girlfriend Annie, who has been extremely patient in rescheduling date nights so I could meet my chapter deadlines.

Eric Hanson joined OneStream Software in 2021 and currently serves as a Director of North America Consulting Services for the South Region. He started his OneStream career as a Senior Consultant after leaving a customer who had implemented OneStream. Eric has implemented solutions for some of the largest customers at OneStream. He now leads a highly skilled implementation team that focuses on configuring and implementing OneStream successfully for customers.

Firstly, this book is dedicated to my wife (Jessye) and two children (Brant and Owen). All three of you are my pillars of support and love. You have continued to be my support system even when times are hard. Next, the book is dedicated to all of my colleagues at OneStream who have helped make me a better OneStreamer. A specific shoutout to Eric Osmanski, Chul Smith, Sam Richards, Nick Blades, and the entire Services Team. I also owe a debt of gratitude to past colleagues as well (Mark – H, S, A, I, Cynthia, Ana, Melissa, Denna). Next, thank you to Amanda G. for continuing to guide and support me through the process. Finally, this book wouldn’t have been possible without my other two authors – Matt and Jannesa – both of whom are two of the smartest and (most importantly) kindest humans on planet Earth.

Jannesa Zhang joined OneStream in 2019. Her experience involves nearly a decade in the EPM and consulting space, where she enjoys enhancing financial processes through software enablement and tackling some of the most complex customer requirements in the consolidations and planning space.

To my family and friends who encourage me to go for it. I am still unclear what “it” is, and I guess I’ll figure “it” out.

To my OneStream colleagues who have provided me with overwhelming behind-the-scenes support and encouraged me to be a little better than I am each and every day, and for that I strive to continue and to extend the same goodwill and care to those around me. I want to thank George Waddell for being such a great advocate and providing me with guidance when I was a fresh punk out of college, new to this whole EPM and consulting area, and then convincing me to join OneStream! I want to thank Chul Smith for providing the solid foundation and understanding of OneStream (it also helps that I happened to be staffed on all the projects you were overseeing as architect and had no choice but to share some of your insights 😊). Thank you, Jenn Stemm, for bringing the new-ish hire under your wing and showing me the magical power of establishing clear lines of communication and expectations when the sh$t hits the fan; glad to know I could learn from the best. Thank you, Eric Osmanski; by sheer chance and on my first day with the company, I happened to sit next to you in Boston, and I distinctly remember asking you, “How do I login to

OneStream?” – gosh how far I have come with my questions – and I am very appreciative that you still respond to my questions! Finally, Matt Ha and Eric Hanson – I can’t believe I bamboozled you into writing a book with me; thanks for being such great sports about it and I hope we can still be friends.
